Many women do not have what they need to present themselves in a professional manner to prospective employers. The Career Closet is our way of ensuring that a woman will not have to choose between feeding her family and purchasing suitable clothing. Volunteers at the NCJW/Essex Career Closet serve as personal shoppers to assist women in obtaining career attire and accessories appropriate for the workplace. Women are referred by the NCJW/Essex Center for Women and other social service agencies and receive coordinating clothing and accessories appropriate for interviewing and the workplace at no cost.
Please donate women’s attire that is:
New or like-new, Interview-appropriate, Any Size: Petite 0-5X, In style (not dated), In season, Ready to wear (no stains, tears, or pulls)
Please no jeans or undergarments.
We particularly need these items:
- Women’s business suits (skirt or pants with jackets)
- Work appropriate skirts, slacks, blouses and shells
- Winter Coats
- Work appropriate shoes, new or like-new
- Nylon knee-highs, new in original package (only in shades brown and black)
- Costume Jewelry
- High-demand items include: Large size clothing and shoes
