The Career Closet of NCJW/Essex, located in Livingston, NJ, provides needed interview and career-appropriate clothing to women who are returning to the workforce or starting work for the first time. Clients are referred by the NCJW/Essex Center for Women and other social service agencies in the area that are dedicated to helping women and families. These women receive the clothing they need to present themselves in a professional manner to prospective employers. Clothing is free to our clients.
Career Closet clients shop by appointment only and are assisted by personal shoppers who help select clothing suitable for that all-important job interview or to start a new job with confidence. Each client receives enough clothing to get them through a week of work.
Become a Personal Shopper
Shoppers assist women in selecting and coordinating career attire and accessories, on site at our Career Closet, as these women are entering and/or reentering the workplace. All clothing is new or like new and is professional and appropriate for an interview and putting your best foot forward on a job.
Volunteer shoppers must have an energetic and outgoing personality and be able to lift clothing on hangers and climb a step stool. An interview and training are required. Personal shoppers work in teams and should be available for 2 1/2 hour shifts.
