Parenting today is particularly challenging given the complexities of our time. Conversations often happen when we are taking our children to and from their activities, when we are not expecting or prepared for the conversation to happen. Carpool Conversations, a new project of NCJW/Essex, aims to provide parents with the tools necessary to engage in conversations with their children about difficult and sensitive topics — before they face issues — allowing them to grow up strong, kind and safe.
After touring the topic of Social Media last year, the next stop on the Carpool Conversations route will be issues relating to Body Image. How do children think about themselves? How do they think about others? How can we emphasize positivity and self-esteem, and avoid perpetuating negative stereotypes? How does our own personal “roadmap” impact the conversation we have with our children about body image?
Join us for a program designed to provide parents of elementary and middle-school aged children with tools to address this sensitive issue.
Address will be provided at registration.
