Throughout the year NCJW/Essex tackles serious issues with dynamic educational programming. We bring these topics out into the open to start a dialogue and prompt action.

A Play Combating Sexism and Sexual Violence
by Katie Cappiello

Raw. Uncensored. Moving.
These are words used to describe SLUT: The Play, whose theatrical release in South Orange, NJ, is being produced by NCJW/Essex and directed by Joey Brenneman (www.joeybrenneman.com).

The play addresses the topics of rape culture, slut-shaming and consent in a world where teens post racy photos of themselves online and accept naked images of each other. The goal is to get parents and children to discuss these topics — and the need to take responsibility for their actions — following the thought-provoking, personal accounts described by teens in the play. A talk-back with the audience will follow.
