Knitters Needed for NCJW's Volunteer Network Creative Hands Project

Are you a knitter or are you interested in learning to knit to help those in need in our community? Whether you prefer knitting with a group or on your own, Creative Hands is the place for you!

NCJW's Creative Hands knitting group is looking for knitters or would-be knitters to contribute to our knitting projects. Lap blankets, adult booties, shawls, preemie hats, and more, are needed. The completed projects are donated to babies, children and adults at many social service agencies and hospitals in and around Essex County.

If you are interested in extending your skills to those in need or want to learn to knit for yourself and to help others, please contact the NCJW office at 973-740-0588. We will be happy to provide yarn, needles, and most of all, a sense of pride knowing you are helping others less fortunate.

Rayna Katzman, center, and Hallie Katzman, right, recently presented shawls and slipper socks to Pamela Gray, Director of Activities at the White House Nursing Home in Orange. Ms. Gray expressed her appreciation for the items and told the girls how beautiful they were. The shawls were created by Elaine Gebroe and Rose Corn for NCJW Creative Hands project. The slipper socks were made by Gloria Weiss. Rayna and Hallie's mother, Lori, is an NCJW volunteer who helps collect, organize and distribute the yarns and knitted items for Creative Hands.
